Annual Competition Rules

1. Competitions

 

The following annual competitions will be held each season:

 

Coronation Cup          –   monochrome prints
Jackson Trophy           –   monochrome prints
Old Timers Trophy      –   colour prints
Centenary Cup            –   colour prints
Victory Cup                 –   digital colour image
Mattinson Cup            –   digital colour or B&W image
St Kilda Trophy           –   monochrome or colour print

 

2.   Subjects/Categories

Each entry must have the category stipulated on the print / digital file.
The following categories are applicable to those competitions for which an entry must consist of three separate photographic subjects:

Natural History Including flora & fauna
Sport
Human Including portrait & figure
Landscape Including rural, urban, sea & sky ‘scapes
Photojournalism
Record Including architecture, technical & illustrative
Abstract/Non-Conventional/Constructed A constructed photograph is a print or digital image that does not show the essential truth that the photographer saw at the time of taking the photograph
Table Top / Still Life
Macro / Close-up

3. Marking

Competitions requiring sets of prints will be marked out of 30.  All other competitions will be marked as in the  monthly competitions.

4. Entries

–       All competitions are open to all club members.

–       Members may not submit entries into a competition that have been used in that competition in previous years.

The rules for each of the competitions are as follows:

a. Coronation Cup

(1)    An entry is to consist of a set of 3 monochrome prints of entirely different subjects (see above)

(2)    Each member may submit 1 entry

b. Jackson Trophy

(1)    An entry is to consist of 1 monochrome print.

(2)    Each member may submit 2 entries.

c. The Old Timer Trophy

(1)    An entry is to consist of a set of 3 colour prints of entirely different subjects (see above).

(2)    Each member may submit 1 entry.

(3)    The winner will be the entrant with the highest aggregate score for their set of 3 prints.

d. Centenary Cup

(1)    An entry is to consist of 1 colour print.

(2)    Each member may submit 2 entries.

e. Victory Cup

(1)    An entry is to consist of a set of 3 colour digital images of entirely different subjects (see above).

(2)    Each member may submit 1 entry.

(3)    The winner will be the entrant with the highest aggregate score for their set of 3 images.

f. Mattinson Cup

(1)    An entry is to consist of 1 digital image.

(2)    Each member may submit 2 entries.

g. St Kilda Trophy

(1)    An entry is to consist of 1 monochrome or colour print the subject of which should be of a Scottish location.

(2)    Each member may submit 1 entry.

(3)    The winner will be determined by majority vote by those present at the Clubs’ annual dinner.
